Christians: Is a true christian, one who believes in jesus and never ever commits a single sin?

Most often I hear christians say ';that person was not a true christian'; refering to someone they have never met before, and usually because of some sin they commited eg the inquisition.

Or do you believe that there are many sins exclude one from possibly being a true believer, while there are many sins you can commit and remain a true believer??Christians: Is a true christian, one who believes in jesus and never ever commits a single sin?
1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

It is by faith we say we are made new but we have not literally died and been made new but now having been born again through faith in Jesus Christ we should not become servents of sin.Christians: Is a true christian, one who believes in jesus and never ever commits a single sin?
The reason we can be heard to say that a person is not a true Christian is usually the evidence of their faith comes out in one way or another. A person who goes about doing others harm, who is greedy and steals and whatever sin you want to name can generally be pointed out as not a Christian.

Whatever you think on the inside is always obvious to others on the outside, eventually.
No! That's not what they are saying. One of the best example I give to those doubting Thomases is the one of the Homosexual who contends and explains away the fact that God detests the sin of homosexuality. And in doing so, he denies God in that God commands us not to engage in the sin of homosexuality. What I don't understand is when other Christians try to support such a sin that God is so adamantly against. Do they realize that when you show support of a sin, that it's much the same a sinning also..

It's one thing to commit a sin or sins of a different color in life as we grow. It's quite another to refuse to accept God command and explain them away because mankind tries to accept them in their culture.,And to continue to live in that sin is the same as committing blaspheme and denying God and his commands.
Hi,

I agree with your statement. The ';that person was not a true christian'; thing is not a valid argument.

We do not know if anybody is a true christian. So that thing is not a careful respond.

The better thing to say is ';the person does not act like a christian in this instance.';

In the case of inquisition, we should show that it is incoherent with christianity to do that. God is the one who converts through the Gospel. We are called to die for our faith not to kill to make convert.

Once this is done, we can say that a person was hypocrite on a particular instance. When I lie, I am hypocrite to say I am christian.

In this way our faith is not deny. We only prove that Christian are sinners like non-christian, that christianity is not about what I do or what others christians do, but about what Jesus did: giving his life for sinners.

Regards,

Emmanuel
The criteria of who is an 'authentic' Christian or not lies in their faith in Jesus Christ or lack thereof, and is not for us to judge. Those who do judge, as you have so aptly noticed, have crossed the boundary of biblical instruction to the contrary. As many of the other answerer's have already correctly noted, we all sin and continue to do so until we die, hopefully less and less as we grow. Thanks for asking neighbor.
A Christian is one who is fighting the WAR AGAINST ALL SIN. And a Christian is one who is LEARNING about sin -- what it is, what it does and how to overcome it. A Christian repents of sin (confesses it to God and then strives to not repeat it).

And as you know, in war, there are battles won and battles lost. ';If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness'; (1 John 1:9 - NKJ).

Proverbs 24:16 NKJ

For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

A Christian (though he may sin from time to time) is one who continues to get back to the fighting.

BTW, The Inquisition was most certainly NOT a Christian action, and was most serious sin AGAINST Christians and God.

.
No one can stop sinning. If we could, we'd be God. Paul, the greatest Christian apologist of his time admitted that he couldn't stop sinning no matter how hard he tried.

Many talk the talk of Christianity but the bible says you will know them by their fruits. If people live in accord with ';love the Lord your God ...'; and ';love your neighbor as yourself'; then it's a pretty good bet they are ';true'; Christians.
Because we are of flesh, we will stumble and sin, even after being saved. The thing is to not do the same sin over and over again. If I mess up, I get back up, and ask forgiveness and move on, and try my best to not sin again. All Christians believe in Jesus, even the hypocritical ones. The hypocritical ones though are still clinging to their earthly desires to some extent. Sorry can't have your cake and eat it too. either you give up your earthly life to Jesus or you don't. We are of flesh though and no one is perfect, Jesus was the only perfect body to walk this earth, this being because he was of God and in sense was God himself.
A true Christian is a person who has had all their sins forgiven, their past sins and also their future sins.

But this does not mean that we can sin as much as we like and God will forgive us anyway,

Oh No,

If a person really has repented

and turned to the Lord Jesus Christ

and has experienced the New Birth

then even though they will sin,

because we sin daily in word, thought and deed,

they know that the Lord died for their sins and will forgive them,

if they confess their sins before Him in humble prayers.

What about your sins?

Have you been forgiven and do you know where you will go when you die?
The bible says for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of god. Now as soon as we accept jesus into our hearts is when we are forgiven of the sins (born again) (saved) The bible also says when we sin that he is a merciful god and will forgive you now does this mean we go out and kill someone and ask for forgiveness and keep committing the same sin again no because Romans says Shall we continue to live in sin? certainly not
A true Christian is one that is born-again. Jesus said you must be born again to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Some people have been born into a Christian family, but have not experienced Jesus for themselves. They have grown up going to church where they learned Christian doctrine. But knowing doctrine and sitting in a pew does not a Christian make. Jesus said You MUST be born again.

Do Christians sin? Yes, and they can be forgiven.

A Christian must believe in Jesus, be born again, and from there be perservering in their Christian walk by being baptized in water and the Spirit. Then reading and praying for one hour a day. ';Could you not wait with me one hour? Jesus said.
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Prov 24:16

The sincere follower of Christ may fall several times, but shall rise right back up into their sincerity toward God; but it is the wicked who are insincere, and they fall into mischief.
let, (cause or make), every human to be a liar, and God be true- romans

once sin has been forgiven, there is no more forgiveness of sin- hebrews

no liars will enter into the kingdom of God- revelations

there is none righteous, no not one- romans

evil men only wax or grow worse
Jesus said you must repent (change your ways) and believe the gospel (New Testament).

A Christian will still sin, but God punishes Christians when they do sin. Christians do not have a license to sin. (1 Corinthians 11:32 %26amp; Hebrews 12:5-11)

Jesus said you will know Christians by their fruits. Someone who is for abortion would not be a Christian because they would be supporting killing another human being.
The Bible says if you say you have no sin, you make God a liar. We all sin many times. The point is that Jesus paid the price for our sins, and we are forgiven. Being a believer means believing. Actions follow beliefs, so the more you trust Jesus, the less you will fall into temptation and sin.

Yours in Christ, Nick
Well, a TRUE CHRISTIAN, is a Person who believes and Obeys the word of God.

Everyone is a sinner. True Christians try their best to follow Jesus. .. NoBody's persfect!
Everyone sins. Its impossible not to. bottaren'tne.

People who arent true christians are people who say theycompletelyn christ but completley ignore him during the day. They say they believe in God but almost leave him at home during the day time.
When they say that someone is not a ';True Christian';, they are referring to everyone that doesn't believe EXACTLY like they do. It's a Christian loophole and completely pathetic.
The only human who did not sin was Jesus. The only reason he did not sin is because he is God manifested in human form.
there is a difference between living in sin and occasionally sinning.
Any thing not pleasing to God is sin.

But God is the Judge.

I don't think that there is anybody perfect on Earth.
Impossible not to sin but we can be cleaned by Jesus Christ for he died for us, We are born with sin.

God Bless You, James W
Sin is sin....period. And everyone does it.
no sin is too great...you are sorely misinformed
Jesus said 'judge not lest you be judged'
we are all sinners.
I think you will see in 1 John how to tell if one is truly saved. I have met many who believe themselves Christians, yet do not have a clue what that truly means. I have known and still know some who are committed Christians, and yet have not discovered the true love of Christ, because how they judge or curse others by God. Can we say these are not true Christians? Maybe, yet we are not to judge. Myself, I have used this very same term. Was it an accurate description? I believe so, for what I saw or read did not strike me as someone living for Christ, but themselves. Maybe a better term would be a true understanding Christian. Cause though I have great love for these and others. It pains me to see them issue forth judgment and condemnation on those who have hurt them or someone they care for. It hurts all of us to hear or see that same thing from those who say they are Christian yet do not act as though they have truly met Christ. Though we do not know their heart as Gods does, we can know their fruit as Christ taught us. Just because we are Christian, does not mean we will never sin again. We are after all sinners and all fall short of the glory of God. What it does mean is if we are truly committed to becoming Christian (meaning becoming Christ like), then we do not seek out sin, when we do sin we repent of it, and make amends to those we may have hurt. It means we commit our life to following Christ, and live our lives accordingly. If one calls themselves Christian, and only lives that way on Sundays they have missed the point. Worse yet they make all of us look bad, and are missing the boat. Being Christian, must be more then something to use to help us feel better about ourselves, or gain us recognition, It must be more then something we use as a weapon. It should and must be a life given to Christ, to share and shine His light into a dark and painful world. We cannot do that, if we are creating more pain by being judgmental, or cursing those who hurt us, or not acting Christian when they claim to be. We must be an example as our Lord was and example. An example of love and commitment to the Father. Fore we cannot live this life without His great love, mercy, and strength, which we can only receive when we keep our hearts, minds, and souls upon Him.
A Christian is a vague term people would call followers of Christ first used at Antioch.

Acts 11:26

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

If a Christian believes to have no sin the truth is not in them.

1 John 1:8

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

In the general sense of the term anyone can say they are a Christian. However when you hear the term ';real Christian'; or something similar to that, they are generally referring to someone who is saved in the sense that they will go to heaven.

Jesus Christ states very clearly what is neccecary for this.

Exodus 3:14-15

God said to Moses:

I am the eternal God. So tell them that the LORD, whose name is '; I Am,'; has sent you. This is my name forever, and it is the name that people must use from now on.

(CEV)

John 8:58

Jesus answered, ';I tell you for certain that even before Abraham was, I was, and I am.';

(CEV)

John 8:24

I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Another requirement of being a ';real Christian'; would be this

1 John 4:15-18

15God stays one with everyone who openly says that Jesus is the Son of God. That's how we stay one with God 16and are sure that God loves us.

God is love. If we keep on loving others, we will stay one in our hearts with God, and he will stay one with us. 17If we truly love others and live as Christ did in this world, we won't be worried about the day of judgment. 18A real love for others will chase those worries away. The thought of being punished is what makes us afraid. It shows that we have not really learned to love.

(CEV)

A ';real Christian'; must believe Jesus is literally the Son of God, they must also believe God is Love. And they must have perfect Love. Perfect love is defined as having no fear of judgment because you have faith Jesus will save you, and only Jesus alone is required for Salvation and is the only way to salvation. They must also believe Jesus was ressurected from the dead and is the LORD God.

Acts 4:12

Only Jesus has the power to save! His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone.

(CEV)

Romans 10:8-17

8All who are acceptable because of their faith simply say, ';The message is as near as your mouth or your heart.'; And this is the same message we preach about faith. 9So you

will be saved, if you honestly say, ';Jesus is Lord,'; and if you believe with all your heart that God raised him from death. 10God will accept you and save you, if you truly

believe this and tell it to others.

11The Scriptures say that no one who has faith will be disappointed, 12no matter if that person is a Jew or a Gentile. There is only one Lord, and he is generous to

everyone who asks for his help. 13All who call out to the Lord will be saved.

14How can people have faith in the Lord and ask him to save them, if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear, unless someone tells them? 15And how can

anyone tell them without being sent by the Lord? The Scriptures say it is a beautiful sight to see even the feet of someone coming to preach the good news. 16Yet not everyone

has believed the message. For example, the prophet Isaiah asked, ';Lord, has anyone believed what we said?';

17No one can have faith without hearing the message about Christ.

(CEV)

These are pretty much the main requirements, their is a few more but for the most part if a person has these all the others must follow.

The term Christian as used in the bible could be referred to anyone who listens and tries to apply any teachings of Christ. However the term Christian as we use it today has nothing to do with this and generally refers to being saved or not. I will summarize the requirements of being a Christian and you can clearly see why by scrolling up and reading the scriptures I have supplied these are only a few but their is much much more.

1)Believe God is love.

2)Believe Jesus is literally the son of God which means God came to Earth as a human.

3)Believe Faith is the only true requirement to go to heaven and only Jesus can save.

4)Believe Jesus died for everyone on the cross and then was ressurrected, so that everyone who wishes to be saved can be saved.
