I have about 3 1/2 acres of land ....is it true that a single goat will help keep the grass down?

No but a boyfriend with a weed eater will.I have about 3 1/2 acres of land ....is it true that a single goat will help keep the grass down?
A goat will help, but probably not worth the hassle. They eat everything in sight. My sister-in-law had a goat, it got into her vegetable garden, and ate. It ate her flowers, and one day the goat made it to the porch and chewed her wicker porch set. Maybe think of other ideas. Gardens, paths, pond, etc.. If you like gardening there are alot of beautiful ideas and once done, which will take a while, lots of gardens are practically maintenance free. Really think this goat idea over again. Best of luck.I have about 3 1/2 acres of land ....is it true that a single goat will help keep the grass down?
There is no way one goat can keep all of the weeds and grass down, but he could keep some down.. If the property isn't fenced off, you will have to chain (metal so it doesn't chew through it) and stake the goat in a different place everyday. Moving him twice a day would clear twice the area. It would be a big help, especially if you have poison oak or some such. Don,t forget to water him too!
im not sure if i can eat that much grass
Yes it will help but the poop will be all over and you will have to clean that up to keep flies and other yukky things from infesting your yard. Either way you have something to do, it's a double edged sword!
A sheep does a better job and doesn't do as much damage-- the feces are small pellets and aren't smelly ( at least when dry). The sheep may not eat the poison ivy-- but they aren't as destructive, either .

good luck
Goats eat brush and weeds, not necessarily grass. Males are terretorial, will butt you when least expected, and as mentioned have a very strong odor.
Yes and he will eat anything in sight ( not just grass- paper, plastic, the vinyl siding on the house, the car bumper- ANYTHING). He will climb on every thing ( cars, trucks, boats, the house) You will not believe how they can climb. The males also have a very bad smell.
My moms friend has goats I HATE THEM I WANNA KICK THEM her son barely gets his fat @ss up to feed them so they constantly cry goats = annoying

PS I love animals so i try to visit often dont want him killing them
Yes, goats are good for that. They are excellent if you have any sorts of annoying brush, vines, weeds, etc. that are hard to kill. If you get a goat, make sure your land is fenced well, because goats are very smart and like to escape. Some predator animals, like mountain lions and coyotes also will sometimes prey on goats, which is another reason to secure your goats living area. Make sure they have a good shelter to stay in at night. They are also excellent climbers, so eliminate anything you don't want them getting on top of.
