Is it true that the single most important factor in causing obesity is heredity?

Thanks! Is it true that the single most important factor in causing obesity is heredity?
Actually the science behind it leans much more towards obesity being more of a genetic problem. Only within the last few centuries have we been able to so easily gorge ourselves on food.

Millenia ago, If you could stockpile fat, you survived, you bred you lived through starvation periods. You passed on your genetics.

Those are the genetics we live with today, everyone has a genetic aging bodyweight that will move about through age, and it is there your body will continuously try to keep you. Increased metabolic rate and the likes.

The higher this set weight is the harder and harder it becomes to mentally stay under it. The constant nag to eat something. depending where the scale is depends how easily you can stay under it. I mean I know a few people who eat excessively constantly and don't gain a pound, surely you know the type.

Hope that helps :)Is it true that the single most important factor in causing obesity is heredity?
Weight gain and obesity develops when energy intake (from food and drink) exceeds energy expenditure (from physical activity and other metabolic processes) over a prolonged period of time. This may be due to the following factors:

Unhealthy eating patterns: n in the consumption of foods high in fat and energy and low in nutrients

Lifestyle / Environment

Rare causes of obesity include hormonal problems, genetic defects, and drug-related problems.

No. Although it doesn't help. I think it is more due to the bad habits you learn as a kid. Like being a lifetime member of the clean plate club and using food as comfort when you are depressed.
No. It is how much you eat and exercise.

Although heredity plays a small part, if you eat more calories than you burn off, you'll gain weight.
I remember hearing that about 2% of obese people can actually claim that its heredity the rest just eat too much.
I think heredity does play some role, but lifestyle is also a major factor.
Yes. I was just learning about heredity in my science class.
No, its caused by years of shoving food into ones mouth with both hands all day, non-stop!
definitely not
nope. Nothing could be further from the truth.
